Pilonidal Disease

Pilonidal disease develops near the tailbone at the top of the buttock crease when hair and debris become trapped under the skin, causing irritation or infection. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, redness, or drainage of pus or blood. Fever can occur if an infection is present.

Pilonidal disease is diagnosed with a physical exam. You can then be referred to us for treatment. Treatment may involve antibiotics, drainage of an abscess, or surgery for more severe or recurring cases. Early evaluation and treatment can relieve symptoms and help prevent future problems.
