Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (or IBD) is a very common, long-term condition that affects the digestive system. It is slightly more common in women than men. Inflammatory Bowel Disease usually starts in early adulthood but can occur at any age. Up to three million Americans have some form of IBD.

Ulcerative colitis creates inflammation and ulcers (sores) in the digestive tract. Symptoms tend to be more apparent over time as the disease progresses. The innermost lining of the colon and rectum are affected, creating life-threatening issues if not treated in time.
